I've been super behind on blogging this summer and fall, but I guess that's what will happen when you have a new baby, and a husbabe with a broken leg! So without further ado, I am starting back up!

This wedding was SO.MUCH.FUN. I really can't even tell you. So many laughs throughout the day. A bride about as laid back as you can get, a groom completely smitten with his bride, and lots of friends and family to help celebrate. Oh and they had a vintage couch that I was OBSESSED with....and the cutest little wiener dog for a ring bearer.

And then, they had a goat roping. How much more Wyoming can you get??? My husband even entered us, (and I seriously fell flat on my face because #flipflops) but it was so much fun!

Totally my kind of day. Enjoy!!

Can all my brides and grooms hold a goat roping from now on?!!

I was super excited when Pat contacted me and said he and Tara wanted me to take their wedding photos. Their wedding was to be at one of the coolest little hidden treasures in the state of Wyoming, so I was all over it. The Ayer's Natural Bridge is located just a little past the town of Douglas along I-25. The first time I had ever gone was for a field trip for school, and I knew I couldn't wait to go back.

When we arrived, Pat and his groomsmen were setting up the ceremony site. Little wooden benches were handmade by he and Tara, for their guests to sit on. Tara was getting ready, as they had not seen each other since the day before. The ceremony was small and very intimate, and I could feel so much genuine love between the bride and groom. When Pat and Tara said their vows to each other, they also gave their girls vow necklaces to show their commitment to their little family.

After the wedding, (the groomsmen had to change my flat tire!! UGH HUGE shout out to them btw....) guests loaded up and headed back east to Lusk, where a fun BBQ and bon fire was held at the couples home. Dancing, drinks, cake cutting, and tons of laughs were heard well into the night.

Such a fun day, and definitely one of the most laid back weddings I've ever been to!

Congrats again you guys!! I have the best couples I swear!!

Sometimes I need to be creative, and not have any expectations from a shoot. I asked my friend if I could do some photos of her with her littles, and she didn't hesitate to 'help' me out, even though she was the one really helping me.

I needed a break from the kids, the baby, and husband demanding my attention. When Wyoming comes out of winter, and the green returns in the spring, I can't even describe the feeling it gives. It's a breath of fresh air, to say the least.

The kids didn't want to pose (and I love that anyways) and the wind was blowing, which at first was discouraging, but then we went with it........and magic happened.

I hope you enjoy!

It couldn't have been a more beautiful wedding day for Douglas, Wyoming couple, Clay and Jenelle. The forecast earlier in the week was calling for rain, but the big gray clouds all made clearance just in time.

Clay and Jenelle went to grade school and high school together. They both showed in FFA/4-H and their families knew each other pretty well, although Clay and Jenelle were not close while growing up. After graduating high school, Jenelle moved away for several years. Upon her return she became close friends with his sister and re-met Clay. They became fast friends, and after about a year of friendship they started dating.

When I initially visited with Jenelle about their day, she told me it was going to be an elegant, black and white themed wedding, complete with a three string quartet, and that they had been taking dance lessons so they could do the waltz for their first dance as husband and wife. I was excited to do something a little different this time around unlike my usual rustic cowboy weddings.

When me and my second shooter, Ashiley, arrived, we set up and got to work. Clay and Jenelle's wedding party, as well as their family, were nothing short of a complete blast to be around, and belly laughs were a staple throughout the day. You could definitely feel the love they had for each other, and the love they shared with their family and friends.

It truly was the perfect day <3

After a both of us being super busy last fall, being pregnant with our fourth baby, and this crazy Wyoming weather, I was starting to think I wouldn't get Koni and Pat's engagement session done before their wedding this summer!

I offer a complimentary engagement session to all my couples who have a booked wedding with me for a few different reasons.

1. It gets those jitters out (for BOTH of us)

2. I really get to KNOW my couple.

3. I find out what poses work, and which ones don't before the big day :)

We've lived in Wyoming for three years now, and every May it has snowed; but only AFTER it's been 70* for two solid weeks and are so happy to see spring finally arrive. So what do you do when it snows 12 inches a few days before an (already rescheduled about 3 times session)? You EMBRACE IT!!

So many laughs happened for it being too early in the morning :) My favorite was when the Texas boy got stuck in all the mud. Don't worry he was able to get out before we had to call for help hahaha!

As I come to my  last senior for 2017, I am letting you all know that I'm now booking 2018 (can you believe this??) NOW!! I've got some already booked, so if you'd like to get scheduled, contact me ASAP!! As we all know the summer tends to fly bye......... ;)

When Garett's dad contacted me about doing his senior session at their family's ranch, I was all for it. One of my most favorite things about photographing all these beautiful people, is getting to drive all over the place to do it. He said they lived at the end of the earth, and I laughed. Until I actually drove to their place, and realized he wasn't kidding.....haha.

The drive was beautiful, until the ground lightening started, and then I was sure we should reschedule, but I was already half way to the ranch, and in this part of Wyoming, cell service is iffy at best.  So when I arrived we waited it out and I'm so glad we did! It turned out to be a gorgeous evening!

Garett is the son of Ken and LeAnn Dixon. He plans to attend Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyoming this fall. Garett participated in basketball, golf, FFA, and was a member of the National Honor Society. He enjoys playing his guitar, hunting, and woodworking.

Best of Luck to you in all you do Garett!!

Living in a small town, can be hard for me as a photographer who takes senior portraits. The class sizes are just a lot smaller than if I lived in a city; but I would gladly take on a smaller clientele if they are all as sweet as the seniors I had this year! What a great group of kids!

We had to break Jasmine's session up into two different days because of the weather, and I'm so glad we did because she is a stunner and I loved photographing her! She rocked her session, and with a smile like that she will go SO far in life <3 What a beauty!!

Jasmine Christianson is the daughter of Shelly Larson, and Kelly Christianson.  She will be attending Casper College in the fall.  Jasmine has competed in volleyball, basketball, and track during her school years, and she was also the wrestling manager at NCHS.  She loves anything that includes sports.

Best of luck to you, Jasmine!!

As I sit here and type this, I can hardly believe that we are over halfway through the month of May.  At this ridiculous rate of speed, it will be Christmas before we know it!!

I'll be blogging my Niobrara County High School Seniors for the next few days in preparation for their biggest accomplishment so far!! Graduating HIGH SCHOOL!!!

I'll never forget when I met Isaiah for his session, his dad had mentioned that he was super nervous.  Well he could have fooled me!  We had such a great time, and he was such a natural in front of the camera :) A big CONGRATS to you Isaiah!!  You will go SO far in life  :)

Isaiah is the son of Joel and Pam Richardson.  He plans to attend Frontier School of the Bible, in La Grange, Wyoming this fall.  Isaiah is the President of National Honor Society, a member of the Student Council, a track and field athlete, and was a member of FBLA his freshman year.

Some of the things Isaiah loves are swimming, being with people, throwing the shot put and discus, and playing softball.

http://laceydalephotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/5/branding-season Branding Season

IT'S BRANDING SEASON!!!

Let those words sink in for a minute.....

To a cowboy, (or a cowgirl) those are some of the sweetest words one could say....It means a long hard winter is over.  It means he/she gets to reap the benefits of what he's sown.  It means a time of fellowship with some of his/her greatest friends.  It means kicking those mamas and their babes out to fresh green grass.  It means a sigh of relief....at least for a little while.

These are just some of the things that come to mind when the words branding season are said.

Trust your neighbor, but brand your cattle.... ;)

Happy Branding Folks!

http://laceydalephotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/1/wedding-season Wedding Season & Blogging

Wedding season is upon us, as ladies from all over are showing off their sparkly new rings they received for the holidays.  When I started in my photography journey, weddings were not something I ever fathomed of doing.  I used to do hair for a living, and when I had a wedding booked, it was almost too much anxiety for me to do a bride's hair, because oddly enough, it would be in her photos for the rest of her life!!

And now,......well look at me, I take the photos....which will more than likely be far more important than any hair do or make up job that bride had done!

Wedding Photography is something I've really grown to love.  I love how excited the bride and groom are to see each other, I love watching them take their vows, I love telling their story the way I see it, and want them to remember it.  I've been blessed so far with amazingly laid back couples, that are in the moment, and don't want to have to worry about anything. That's what I'M there for :) Blogging seemed like such a scary thing for me to try to accomplish too, but this year I'm going to conquer it! I want to share all these beautiful couples! I don't want them in hiding any longer!! so be prepared <3

Here's a few of my favorite photos from a wedding I did last summer, when it wasn't snowing....

http://laceydalephotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/1/project365 Project 365

I've been thinking about this for awhile, and just never thought I could get my words out in a way that anyone would care to understand...

It's New Years and how many times have you heard 'I won't do this anymore', or 'Things will be different for me this year'.... 'I am going on a diet'.... 'I vow to let this go'?? We hear it every single year.

Maybe 2017 will be the big year for you, and maybe it will end up being the worst year of your life. That is the beautiful thing about this life. We cannot predict what the future will hold. I know for my little family, this year will at least be a huge adjusting year, with the arrival of a new babe.

The real kicker for me was this morning at church. Despite it being so hot in the room, I thought I was going to pass out, (LOL) I took away some great thoughts from our Pastor. We were in the book of Job, and he very sternly, but lovingly, told his congregation that, "In order for you to truly know who you are, you MUST first know who God is."

This struck me. It brought tears to my eyes. And made a pit in my stomach. I am guilty of saying and thinking that I know myself so well, what makes me tick, when truthfully, I don't think I do. I want to have a better relationship with God, but I've got to see Him in things that I normally would bypass, because life just gets too busy. I need to slow down, and work on that relationship a little more, because in the end....that's all that's going to matter....

I've decided I'm going to do a Project 365. What is that you ask? Well the concept is simple. You take a photo every.single.day. for one entire year. That seems to be a pretty easy task, considering everyone has a cell phone with a decent camera on it anymore, but I am going to (TRY) to do this with just my 'big girl camera'. Lots of photographers do this project, and I've heard it helps them by leaps and bounds. My hopes through this little journey, is to honor Him. I hope He shows and teaches me new things throughout my everyday life (even more so than He does now) that make me stop in awe of what He has done, can do, and is to me.

I'll be sharing this daily, God willing, and I hope you'll follow along <3

Here's my first photo for January 1, 2017.

Happy New Year Friends <3 ldp
